We speak here about a machine able to carry out only shaped edge
Depending the thickness, the cutting accuracy, and the quality, between one or 3 diamond wheels are required and one polishing wheel;
This machine works with peripheral wheels. It means, for each edge kind and each thickness you need a set of wheels The using of such a machine is not very difficult. But it is a half-automatic machine which need a continuous presence of an operator ( exept for circle for some machines).
The price difference with a shape machine able to carry out edge and bevel is not very important A shape edging machine is dedicated for very specific markets. Moreover the presence in most glass companies of a cnc machine able to carry out the same work but in an automatic way decrease the insterest of this kind of machine.
You must have a look on: -The possibility to install several wheels together on the spindle ( to finish to edge and polish a glass without changing the wheels). -The possibility to have a memory for the Z position of the tools ( to save time for adjustments) -The possibility to have several spindle rotation speeds. -Option to carry out circle in an automatic way. -How to edge small glasses ( between diameter 200 mm and 600 mm) -These machines works with water projection. The waterproofness for plate, spindle and moto-variotor is a key point for maintenance -The machine need a 3x3 meters area.
