Acquisition for Intermac in China
Biesse Group has signed for the acquisition of the company Centre Gain Group (Hong Kong - China) working in the woodworking machinery sector.
The Italian company Biesse, mother company for Intermac (Intermac, Busetti, Diamut) has signed an agreement for the acquisition of the Centre Gain Group concerning the manufactoring and sales for machines in the Asia market. The Centre Gain Group company has been engaged in the production and marketing of wood processing machinery since 2004 with its production plant located in Dongguan City (Guangdong province, China).
A strong direct presence in Asia is essential to succeed on the machinery market and this acquisition is the following of the project started in 2007 in India. Today the growing competition from Asian producers (Chinese and Taiwanese in particular) on the world market represents a significant risk for the development of the business.
The agreement signed September end will allow Intermac and Biesse to significantly reinforce its presence in the world’s largest market for wood, glass and stone machines, to broaden its product range and to expand its client base while directly competing with Asian competitors and other international competitors which have been entering in Asia markets several years ago. In this way it should be possible for Intermac to increase business opportunities and develop the local market while simultaneously expanding global sales volumes producing and designing special products for these markets with a local cost bases.
Center brain group will act in collaboration with the Biesse and Intermac local subsidiary located in Shanghai.

Second international Glass Show in Strasbourg
Introduced by ESGAA with the contribution of the cities of Strasbourg and Venice, this project aims at offering during 6 months and in 2 different highly cultural locations a string of contemporary art exibitions emphacising current trends in glass-using design.
Linked by a common tradition in the mastering of fire arts, Strasbourg and Venice have had the know-how to develop exceptionally a personal expression of glass.
However, far from reinforcing technical skills in art, both cities are trying out current and plastic uses of age-old material.
Thus, teaching at School of Decorative Arts is acutely turning the infinite opportunities provided by the glass material in a contemporary art approach. For the second time, the intertnational Glass Show set up by ESGAA is enhancing various artistic proposals etched in the current debate throughout many exhibits in Strasbourg and more widely in Alsace and Lorraine.
Besides, the cty of Venice, steeped in the mastering of silica glass, is pushing contemporary artists to look into the glass material and to dare break intrinsic beauty codes as has been evidenced by the most remarkable exhibit at Palais Franchetti – Glass Stress in 2009.
The project that has been planned intends to echo contemporary glass-based design; such personal endeavors aims at turning glass into a conceptual tool and not an end in itself.
The exhibit hinges around 2 spatiotemporal lines :
Venice and Murano in summer of 2011, in tune with Venice’s Biennale contemporary art show. Many locations are targeted, whether palaces in downtown Venice likely to host these installations within their gardens or trails or at Berengo Fundation in Murano, a large 1500 sq m place.
Strasbourg and the Alsace-Lorraine region in fall of 2011 in close collaboration with St-art and CIC, a banking firm that has sponsored together with ESGAA the contest "Strasbourg International Glass Prize" set up in 2009. Several locations both public and private in Strasbourg and the Alsace-Lorraine regions will present works of selected artists.
15 European artists will be asked to exhibit their creative approach in various locations : installations, sculptures, videos, photographs, the uses of the glass material being boundless.
The consistency of the speech will be ensured by an organizer in both cities in collaboration with artists and institutions.
The specific aspect of the exhibit will be favored by artistic completion in Murano and Meisenthal
Designer Vincent Dupont-Rougier will also be required to think about a scenography around the Crystal Garden at both Palazzeto Bru Zane in Venice and some parks in Strasbourgor the Alsace Lorraine region with the aim to convey a festive, dreamlike quality to the exhibit. This was originally a project presented by Abbaye des Prémontrés and Jardins de Bagatelle in 2007. Such prestigious brands of French crystal manufacturers (Baccarat, Lalique et Saint-Louis) will join forces to provide visitors with a brand new vision of what crystal may lay in store.
This large-scale exhibit allows French and Italian partnership within the field of contemporary art ; its background is historic and cultural reality in Alsace and Lorraine and Venitie.
It will be backed by the regions, Strasbourg, département du Bas-Rhin, DRAC, Ministère de la Culture, and numerous sponsors.
The contest "International Strasbourg Glass Prize"-CIC Est will be this year renewed under the topic ‘No Limits’.
