Glass story. First steps.

 

 

                              Glass Story

 

In the nature the glass exist:

-From volcanos

In particular, Obsidienne which was used during prehistory as tools, arms, jewels and mirors ( where it was possible to see his own soul!)

 -From meteorites

 

Resulting from the crash of a meteorite on sand

 

-From lightning

When a lightning flash hit with certain conditions the sand

 

 

 But the more surprising is that glass is manufactured in huge quantity inside oceans

This sponge's sketeton is made of glass

 

But the more important glass production is from seaweed called "diatomes" wich have a glass carapace.

It is interesting to see that the first glass production exemples require very hight pressure and temperature, and the last one ( the seaweed), very soft conditions.

The glass production from these seaweed is huge and a lot more important than the industrial'one.

This glass is accumulated at the bottom of the oceans ( opale).

The opale is a raw material very in demand by jewellery.

The oldest glass are located .........................on the moon. They have been discovered by an Apollo mission.

 As a lot of important inventions glass was probably discovered by accidend during metal working or in a potter's oven.

 

The oldest recipes for glass manufacturing were found on Mesopotanians'tablets.
