Water treatment installations
The main reason for water treatment during glass and stone processing are:
The anti-pollution rules in the area where the workshop is located
Environmental deference
Cost reduction by an important decreasing in used water quantity and in tools (wheels).
Profit for the machines cleaning time and maintenance cost decreasing.
Improving for glass processing quality.
The water is mainly used to cool the tools (wheels) and the glass. When the silica is not removed from the water the cooling property decrease and the processing temperature is not the right one to have a good processing quality and to have a good duration for the wheels.
On the market exist 3 main technologies
Centrifugation:
benefits:
no chemical products
disadvantages:
does’nt remove the very small glass particles
Purchase cost
Maintenance cost
electrical consumption
Noise
Centrifuges with wheels exist on the market. This way you can move the centrifuge from one machine to another one when you have only 2 or 3 machines in your workshop. In case you have more machines you have to install a fix centrifuge and to connect it with your water treatment network.
Some suppliers propose to add to the centrifuge a flocculation installation to remove the smaller glass particles.
Flocculation:
Good results if the supplier has a good experience and if the machine is properly designed. You have also to find out the best flocculant for your activity (glass or stone or both materials).
Filtering:
Here no miracle. There are also on the market systems associating flocculation and filtering.
Before to take a decision you have to check if the water quality after treatment allow you to use this water to cool the spindle for a CNC machine (internal cooling).
In case of important temperature the water treatment installation can produce some smell. It is better to have the main part of the installation outside the working area.
