Natural stone quarries.
Handling and Transport blocks career and regulations
Handling stone blocks weighing up to 15 -16 tons and a volume of several cubic meters is usually done by forklifts, cranes, derricks or specialized trucks ....
The blocks are then transported to the processing plant for cutting slices of different thicknesses depending on the destination of the stone.
Regulatory careers
Recall that quarrying in France is regulated and subject to official authorization. This regulation includes in particular the constraints of environmental protection policy.
The quarrying therefore requires significant material, financial and human to prepare career, operate, maintain, and restore end operating condition. Quarry rehabilitation is guaranteed by a financial security system.

Stone formation. Sandstones, limestones
The weathering of rocks formed a deposit of detrital material.
This deposit, originally furniture (sandy deserts or beaches) has been consolidated by cementing of the grains under the influence of various factors (alternating water, heat ...).
Sedimentary rocks generally consist of parallel layers, formed in large settling ponds.
There are over three hundred different rocks listed in France. Their structures vary widely according to the components that accompany the main component, carbonate of lime.
Limestone is formed by a multitude of agglomerated grains cemented together by particles separated in a solid mass.
French production of stones hit bottom in 2014
Over 60 million euros of revenue lost between 2013 and 2014 (and 2015 should not be better), the French natural stone industry continued to dive. All industries are concerned with significant declines in activity between - 8% - 22% and unfortunately many stops activity.
