New automotive glass
Lighter, thinner and more resistant Corning Gorilla glass hybrid was chosen by Ford to the windscreen of the GT. The manufacturer has tested and approved for its next supercar.
The Ford GT will be the first production car to use Corning Gorilla Glass. Rather than the usual laminated, the brand has chosen the oval hybrid 3-layer glass. The windshield will be 25% to 50% thinner and 30% lighter with this type of glazing. Yet it more resistant to scratches. He certainly succeeded stress tests to wind and various projectiles to be validated on the GT.
3 layers
Gorilla glass has three distinct layers: a tempered glass for the interior, an intermediate layer of thermoplastic and annealed glass for outdoors. The inner plastic also aims to absorb the noise. But above all, he participated in the relief of the mass. The 600 horsepower, minimum, Ecoboost V6 GT will be more wild they will be released from the superfluous weight.

New laminated glass assembly
Technology used for nearly a century, the traditional automotive laminated windshield consists of two layers of glass sandwiched around a transparent thermoplastic interlayer. This new hybrid glass also uses a layered approach but with a first layer of hybrid automobile tempered glass which serves as a reinforced inner layer, an intermediate thermoplastic component which absorbs sound in the middle, and finally annealed glass which serves as the outer layer.
The result is a windshield and a rear cover much lighter than competitive vehicles. In addition, the new glazing Gorilla is 25 to 50% thinner than the traditional laminated glazing, to an equal or greater strength. In fact, the traditional measurement laminated glazing between 4 and 6 mm thick, while the hybrid ice vary between 3 and 4 millimeters.
This remarkable decrease significantly reduces the weight of each glass piece. This new technology has been tested in difficult road conditions and had to face the onslaught of missiles of all kinds, food spills and wind tunnel tests before being finally adopted by the manufacturer.
Miroiterie Landaise. Mont de Marsan
The investors presented a recovery plan for the conservation of over 120 employees over 140. There will be only 4 forced departures because the mirrors has already registered 16 voluntary redundancies
Melting glass: Air Liquide oxycombustion more sober and clean
A fusion technology of glass by oxy-combustion developed by Air Liquide has won the Innovative Product at the second edition of the Innovation Award of Franco-Chinese teams.
HEATOX is a fusion of glass by oxyfuel technology. The oxyfuel combustion technologies seeking to recover the CO2 as concentrated as possible, by carrying out the combustion with air as concentrated as possible in oxygen, by seeking to remove nitrogen. After combustion, the CO2 produced is thus no longer mixed with nitrogen and more pure spring, and is easier to value. Air Liquide technology differs from others because it includes preheating high temperature oxygen and natural gas (methane) upstream. "Generally, oxygen and natural gas are taken at room temperature. With HEATOX we préchauffons oxygen at 550 ° C and natural gas at 450 ° C with the furnace flue gases, "explains Luc Jarry, head of Heat Oxy-combustion project. O2 and natural gas are thus preheated with heat from the furnace fumes that would be lost. Further preheating, Air Liquide ensures that the technology can be adapted to smaller ovens, little affected by the oxycombustion habittuelles techniques because of their cost.
HEATOX oxyfuel combustion increases the performance of 10% with preheating and allows 25 to 50% of natural gas consumption savings and reduction in CO2 emissions compared to traditional combustion air (air combustion) . It also allows the 80% reduction in NOx. The technology is implemented in three glass production plants. She suffers from a significant cost due to the extraction of pure oxygen from the air and can only be installed during the complete renewal of the facilities,
Proposed takeover of miroiterie Landaise. France.
The Commercial Court of Mont-de-Marsan has just renewed for six months the period of observation of society. But there will be buyers of the project deemed reliable?
Since placement in receivership on June 11, the future of the Landaise Miroiterie is pending. However, the 140 employees of the company mirrors and door and window joinery still have hope. Thursday, December 10, the Commercial Court of Mont-de-Marsan was renewed for six months the period of observation of society, to build a settlement of liabilities plan. On February 11, the plan of potential buyers, namely Jean-Christophe Soft and Serge Delwasse, will be discussed at a further hearing.
Breakfast and open doors
The mirrors glazing in Perpignan organizes a breakfast Friday, December 18 to share a moment of conviviality with its customers.

New polarimeter for tempered glass control
The GMC French, well known for its range of flat glass tempering furnaces presented its new polarimeter for measuring stress on the tempered glass as part of quality control.
With a direct relationship between the measured level of constraints, the size and number of fragments.
The polarimeter is available in two versions. One with connection on your laptop, the other with a built-in screen.

CHEMICAL TEMPERING BECOMES ESSENTIAL IN THE FOLLOWING SITUATIONS:
- When thickness of glass is inferior to 2,5mm. Under this thickness it is very difficult and nearly impracticable to thermal temper.
- In case of glasses with very complex bending or dimensional characteristics that cannot be
tempered with thermal equipment.
- Necessity of mechanical resistance superior to the ones obtainable with thermal tempering, in case of special industrial or architectural application.
- Necessity of impact resistance superior to the one obtainable with traditional thermal tempering.
- Necessity to obtain, in addition to mechanical resistance, high optical requirement and total absence of glass surface deformation for industrial and motor application.
The Gateway Bridge Arts Paris with glass gates
The 56 glass panels were placed on one side of the bridge of Arts. This Tuesday, the team of RDLR company completed the installation in the rain. No more love padlock that burdened 54 t bridge between the Louvre and the Institut de France.
Now, passersby will regain transparency on the Seine through the 2.75-long fused glass by Saint-Gobain. They consist of an antireflection glass, extra-clear and secure. Before the end of January, the other side of the bridge should have the same care (for a total budget of € 500,000) with a painting campaign on all metal structures of the bridge and on lampposts and benches, then poses the same high-end windows.
